Global Omnium, a leading company in the water management sector, needed a redesign and improvement of its contracting and purchase request portal. The objective of the project was to incorporate new functionalities to the UI5 portal, optimizing the management of contracts and purchase requests, improving filters and adding fields necessary for greater operational efficiency.
  • CHALLENGES

    Adaptation of Existing Functionalities: The project required adapting and enhancing custom functionality already integrated into the client’s systems, with a major impact on their critical business processes.

    Specific Process Knowledge: The team needed a deep understanding of the client’s functionality and key activity periods to ensure that new additions would not disrupt operational flow.

    Downtime-Free Execution: The solution had to be implemented without disrupting the client’s business processes, which meant making the changes without downtime.

    Incorporation of new functionalities: Adding fields in the contract search engine to better manage the status and the person responsible for the contract, as well as adapting the purchase request application.

    Improved Efficiency in the Portal: Optimize searches and visibility of information depending on the extendibility of contracts, allowing a more agile management.

    Execution without interruptions: Perform all necessary modifications without generating impacts on the client’s operations.

  • TECHNOLOGY

    UI5: User interface for SAP used in the procurement portal and purchase requisitions.

    SAP ECC (FI-CO, MM, SD): Functional modules involved in system modifications.

    ABAP: Custom development to integrate the new functionalities in the back-end.

    ODATA: Protocol used for the modifications in the search and contract management, as well as in the adaptation of the back-end.

  • SOLUTIONS

    Redesign of the Portal: Fields were added to the contract search engine to manage the status of the contract and the person in charge, including customized filters that allowed for more efficient searches.

    Adaptation of Purchase Requisitions: Improvements were implemented in the contract filter, integrating the status and the person responsible for the contract, in addition to modifications in the data structure to support the new required fields.

    Back-End improvements: Modifications were made to the back-end processes (Get and Set) to manage the new contract fields, and the corresponding ODatas were regenerated to ensure a correct display of the information.

    No Operational Disruptions: All improvements were implemented in a transparent manner for the client, ensuring that there were no downtimes or disruptions to ongoing operations.

  • RESULTS

    New Functionalities Incorporated: New functions were introduced in the procurement portal and purchase requisitions, improving access and information management.

    No Impact on Operations: Improvements were implemented without affecting existing operations or causing interruptions, allowing for a smooth transition.

    On Schedule: The project was completed on schedule, with the delivery of all requested enhancements.

    This project allowed Global Omnium to improve its procurement and purchase requisition portal, optimizing contract management and ensuring that the new functionalities were implemented without operational disruptions.
