Discover the new regulation that will revolutionize everything we knew about invoicing
A few days ago, Royal Decree 914/2024 was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which establishes a regulatory framework for the verification of electronic invoices. This new regulation, known as “Ley Veri*factu”, represents a significant advance in the commitment to transparency, security and control in digital commercial transactions.
What does this regulation imply?
The “Veri*factu Law” seeks to guarantee the authenticity and traceability of electronic invoices, minimizing the risk of fraud and errors in the invoicing process. In addition, it imposes on companies a mandatory system of authenticity verification in the issuance and receipt of digital invoices, which must be aligned with established official standards.
Who is affected by Veri*factu?
This new system will impact all taxpayers with economic activities subject to Personal Income Tax or Corporate Income Tax.
Exceptions: It does not apply in the foral territories or for companies that already use the SII.
Key benefits:
1. Transparency: Strengthens confidence in commercial transactions through invoice validation.
2. Efficiency: Automates the verification process, reducing audit and control times.
3. Security: Protects against fraud, ensuring the integrity of digital documents.
Adaptation to Veri*factu
According to the regulation, the entry into force of the “Anti-Fraud Law” for companies and freelancers is July 1, 2025, but there is an incompatibility of dates, since the suppliers of these computer systems will have until July 29, 2025 to offer their adapted products. The exact date, which points to July 29, will have to be specified. In this same period, the AEAT will enable the service to receive invoicing records.
For companies, this represents an opportunity to adapt and improve their digital invoicing systems. In an increasingly digitized environment, such measures are key to building a more robust and secure business ecosystem.
